I’m proud to showcase some of my latest game environment art from “The Last of Us: Part 1”
.
In the early stages of production, I worked with a small team of artist on the game’s vertical slide that serves as an artistic benchmark for the environment dept. It was a challenge for me to embrace the previous artist’s environment artwork, style, and design from the original “The Last of Us”. Collaborating with my team, I re-envision and recreated from the ground up, a more realistic visual style guide that includes architectural design, asset creation, set dressing and vegetation. I am humble to see how this early work inspired other talented artist in their vision for the outstanding environment art they created on other areas of the game.

I was responsible for the first section of “Bills Town”. I worked on the architectural concept design, modeling, props, set dressing, collision, uvs. I created the streets and vertex blended most of them, and I also help my texture artist blending other assets throughout the level.

Since the beginning of the project, I team up and worked closely with Texture Artist Ali Ghadimi all the way from sharing ideas to finalizing the level, he is a talented artist, and I am delighted that I got to partner with him. We also got to collaborate with Graphic Designer Hailey Del Rio, she did a tremendous amount of work been in top of all the graphics in the level from store sign, logos, images, names, legal, boards, papers, etc... I am grateful I got to work with talented Lighting Artist Ai-Fen Lo, she did an outstanding job in the level. Ashleigh Dale did a fantastic job keeping all the outsourced task flowing with the technical knowledge in the art and the gameplay side.
At Naughty Dog, production is a team effort that include constant collaboration with other departments. Thank you to the other talented artist at Naughty Dog Team that help bring these levels together.
